Job Description:
Lumwana Mining Company is hiring for the position of Lead Mining Engineer - FS (Fixed Term) to join the Mine Engineering Department under the Mineral Resource Management - FS Section. The ideal candidate should embody Barrick's core values and contribute to the Feasibility Study (FS) project.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure safe work practices and timely reporting and investigation of incidents.
2. Collaborate with mining production teams to address production issues and contribute to the FS project.
3. Integrate FS mine infrastructure with current operational plans for operational efficiencies.
4. Drive studies to optimize mine operations as part of the expansion.
5. Work on reducing mining costs to improve project economics.
6. Assist Lead Mine Planner in maintaining and reviewing mine designs and equipment selection.
7. Advise in the development of short to medium-term mine plans.
8. Reconcile assumptions used in design and scheduling with actual performance.
9. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of required reports.
10. Assist in preparing business plans and budgets for study work.
11. Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum eight (8) years' Open Pit mining experience.
- Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
- Strong understanding of mine plans and designs.
- Extensive knowledge of open pit mining practices and strategic planning.
- Proficient in mine design software (Deswik, Vulcan, or similar).
- Attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Effective verbal communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a team and autonomously.
- Physical fitness and ability to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
