Purpose:
To install and carry out maintenance work on Excavators and other Auxiliary machines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform equipment inspections and ensure corrective actions are taken before breakdowns occur.
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on dippers, buckets, blades, dump bodies, and general machine repairs.
- Identify and record corrective work during preventive maintenance inspections; report findings to the foreman.
- Understand task requirements and identify all risks before starting the task.
- Inspect assembled vessels or individual components to locate defects.
- Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts using various tools and equipment.
- Ensure leak-proof joints by belling, beading with power hammers, or welding pressure vessel tube ends.
- Study blueprints to determine locations, relationships, or dimensions of parts.
- Straighten or reshape bent pressure vessel plates or structural parts using hammers, jacks, or torches.
- Perform other duties as instructed by the Supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of a Grade Twelve (Grade 12) Certificate.
- Craft Certificate in Metal Fabrication from a recognized institution.
- Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
- Class C Driver’s Licence (Manual Transmission).
- Experience with Ground Engaging Tools is an advantage.
- A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience as a Boilermaker in a Mining Environment.
